About the event
As the wheel of the year turns and the veil between worlds grows thin, we enter a beautiful season of remembrance honored by both Samhain and Día de los Muertos. While Samhain is a sacred Pagan tradition reflecting on the final harvest and the quiet introspection of winter, Día de los Muertos is a vibrant Mesoamerican celebration filled with joyous color to welcome spirits home.
Despite their different energies—one deeply tied to nature’s fading cycles and the other a festive, bright celebration of life—both traditions share a profound similarity: creating a physical, sacred space to honor, remember, and invite our departed ancestors back to us.
At the heart of both celebrations is the altar, or ofrenda. A Samhain altar might be adorned with late harvest apples, pumpkins, and dark candles to safely guide spirits, whereas a Día de los Muertos ofrenda bursts with bright orange marigolds (cempasúchil), sugar skulls, and…
